info about ETF (exchange traded funds)

  1. info about ETF (exchange traded funds)

    Hello everyone,

I am a new investor and also a conservative one. My question is that why does only gold, banking sector and mixed sector ETF's are present on the NSE stock exchange ? What i anticipated was that there would be ETF for every sector like pharma, biotech, renewable energy, power etc etc.
do they dont exist or have i missed it. I could not find it on money control or NSE web page.
I would like to invest in a few beaten down sectors and was thus investigating about ETF's. Anykind of help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Yes, I don't think we have ETF for specific sectors at this point. It may come-up in future ...

  3. A quick suggestion on investing in ETF on Banking sector

There are a lot of ETF's that replicate the banking sector and was wondering if it was a right time to get into the banking ETF's. Most of them have shown a steady growth rate over a period of few years and I am not sure if it is possible to wait for a big correction in the banking sector.
My question in a nut shell is for a long term investor, entering the ETF in the banking sector is a good time anytime or should I wait for a dip in the market before I buy.
I would like to invest in individual companies but lack the expertise thus I am following up on index funds.
    Thanks.

  4. Following index based funds is good ... And in Jan 2013, US budget will be announced and QE3 (Qualitative Easing) is expected to happen, which will be a boost to banking sector ... So, it is good from a long term perspective ...

Indian Markets right now are on a high and might cool off in the next 2 weeks ... You may enter by maybe end of this month of before based on when Indian Markets cool off ...
