To send a post abroad by Indian Post, you will be required to fill out a customs declaration form and attach it at the back of the item being posted.
Sometimes, the post office may not have copies to be given to customers. Since, i regularly send posts abroad, i took a scan of the customs declaration form to avoid dependency on post office form availability.
You may find it useful too. Download the form here India Post - Customs Declaration.PDF
You will need to fill the below fields in the customs declaration form,
- Name & Address of Sender
- Itemised list of contents
- Country of Origin
- Net Weight of Goods
- Value (If Known)
- Date & Senders Signature
Its pretty simple to send posts abroad by India Post. Indian Postal Department rocks.
It only costs me 205 Rupees to send a 250 grams book by Registered Post (14 days delivery time) to any country abroad. EMS (Delivery in 5 days) will cost 500 rupees to 800 Rupees varying for each country
Any other courier service will cost me well over a 1000 Rupees. In-fact maybe 2000 Rupees.
