Personal Loan Closure Procedure - HDFC, Axis, ICICI, Citibank

I had personal loans with HDFC, Citibank and Fullerton and i pre-closed them all ... So, i am going to give pointers to those who are looking to close off their personal loans. This will help you save time.

Check List / Procedure

• Personal Loan Account no: Have your personal loan account number handy. If you do not know it, call up customer care with the bank or from whom you took a personal loan. Confirm your personal details for verification and they will check their systems to give your loan account number details.
  
  
• Get Closure Quote, Payment Venue: Currently you may have pre-closure charges. Ask customer care for exact amount that needs to be paid for pre-closure. Also ask where in your city, you can walk in to pay and pre-close the loan. For Citibank, i was told that i cannot walk in and pay. I was given a mail room address and i couriered the DD via Blue Dart and the loan was closed promptly
  
  
• Things to Carry: ID Proof, Cheque / DD for pre-closure, Loan Account no
  
  
• Pre-Closure Acknowledgement Receipt: Walk in to the branch nearest to you and hand over the cheque or DD for pre-closure and make sure to collect the pre-closure acknowledgement receipt for the same. Avoid using cash to pre-close.
  
  
• If your next EMI is very close, it might still get processed, but the bank should credit it back soon.
  
  
• Within 2 weeks, you should get confirmation on pre-closure. If you face any issues, claim and follow-up using the pre-closure acknowledgement receipt
